If you are a Christian, especially a Christian in a leadership position, and you do not have an accountability group, you are an accident waiting to happen.
Character failure is seldom the result of a blowout; it is the result of a long slow leak. We all need people in our lives who love us but are not impressed with us. We need people in our lives who will ask tough questions and call us out when necessary.
We need people who will love us the way we are but also love us enough not to allow us to remain that way.
In 1 Corinthians 12:12–13 we read, “The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts, and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.”
You cannot make it alone in your Christian walk. We are a desperate people. I desperately need you, and you desperately need me, and we desperately need each other. There is no room for an independent in the body of Christ because we are all interdependent upon each other—we are one body.
